Shopping
Just around the corner from Fuentemar you’ll find restaurants, bars, banks, a newsagent selling international newspapers and a small supermarket that opens 7 days a week.
Elche, 150km north, is Spain’s largest shoe-making town. Its factories are the source of international designer shoes but you don’t have to drive to them, they’ve come to you. There are outlet shops in Garrucha and Mojacar,
and some of the local market stalls offer ends of lines, etc.
Don’t just shop in supermarkets. Every town has a covered market (Abastos) where you can buy fresh fish, meat, fruit and vegetables not to mention all the wonderful cured meat products -- some of which are still made by hand on nearby farms.
Garrucha's Mercadona supermarket carries mostly Spanish brands and offers good value for money.
International products are available in Vera's InterMarché
(5km away) and Super Turre in Turre (7km away).
Fresh produce can be purchased daily in Garrucha’s covered market; on Friday in
Garrucha’s open air street market; on Saturdays in Vera’s street market.
